5(6)-TMR C6 maleimide is a very good alternative reagent to tetramethylrhodamine-5(6)-maleimide. It selectively reacts with peptides, proteins, and other biomolecules containing thiol groups (e.g., thiol-modified oligonucleotides and thiol-containing organic molecules). Under similar conjugation conditions, it forms stronger conjugates than tetramethylrhodamine-5(6)-maleimide. The spectral characteristics of 5(6)-TMR C6 maleimide are the same as those of tetramethylrhodamine-5(6)-maleimide. Therefore, all conjugated systems formed by tetramethylrhodamine-5(6)-maleimide can be achieved with 5(6)-TMR C6 maleimide.
