AOH1996 interferes with the interaction of PCNA with its binding protein, causing DNA replication stress and inducing apoptosis. AOH1996 stabilizes the interaction between PCNA and RNA polymerase II resulting in proteasoma-dependent rpb1 degradation and fatal DNA damage.
