The Cyanine5.5NS dye has the same spectral properties as Cyanine5.5 but does not have the four sulfonate groups of Cyanine5.5. Cyanine5.5NS dye is insoluble in water, whereas Cyanine5.5 dye is highly water-soluble. This non-sulfonated cyanine is insoluble in water and is mainly used to label oligonucleotides, peptides, and other small molecules. Cyanine5.5NS succinimidyl ester selectively reacts with aliphatic amines.
