PA-8 is a small molecule PACAP type I (PAC1) receptor antagonist with selectivity, efficacy, and oral activity. PA-8 inhibits PACAP-induced CREB phosphorylation in the PAC1 receptor, but does not inhibit the VPAC1 or VPAC2 receptors. PA-8 also inhibits PACAP-induced elevation of cAMP.
